About me

Hi, I’m Femke Verhulst, Holistic Health Coach & Nutritionist

I’m from the Netherlands and I love spending my time traveling, exercising, cooking, reading and exploring nature. I started Fem’s Health after struggling with my own health for years.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been struggling with fatigue. In 2014/2015 it was definitely at its worst. I was in the middle of high school back then and had to miss out on a lot because on some days I didn’t even have the energy to get out of bed. Feeling so tired often gave me headaches, it made me just feel sick, and I also had really bad acne. After going to several doctors and therapists for years – where no one could diagnose me – a digestive weakness was diagnosed by a Chinese Medicine Practitioner. Digesting my food was taking so much energy that there wasn’t much energy left for my body.

It was important to change my eating habits and eliminate certain foods that were hard to digest and made my symptoms worse. We switched up my diet and started with acupuncture. I started to become more interested in nourishing my body with the right foods, dived more into the world of nutrition and also started to exercise more. I slowly started to feel the results and really got to experience the power of nutrition.

Not much later, I had a terrible experience with having a copper IUD, my periods were much heavier and more painful, and I even had cramps when I wasn’t on my period. I know this wasn’t normal, so I had my IUD removed but still had painful periods, PMS and mood swings/irritability. I already had the tools to manage the way I felt through nutrition, movement, sleep, etc. but these were symptoms I had a hard time getting rid of.

After getting my bachelor’s degree in Finance & Control I decided I wanted to follow my true passion, which is nutrition and health. I began implanting my learnings from my study at Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) in my daily life. I incorporated more healthy habits like a good sleeping pattern, stress management techniques and listening to my body better and more often. I learned even more while getting my accreditation in hormone health about working with your menstrual cycle and hormones instead of against it, implemented this knowledge and started to feel much better. On some days I still struggle a bit with my health, but to a much lesser extent than before. I’m so glad I got to manage my health struggles by focusing on an overall healthy lifestyle because it really makes a different for me in how I feel.

With my accumulated knowledge and own experience, I am so driven to help you tackle your health struggles. Whether you’re experiencing fatigue, acne, painful periods, PMS, mood swings like I was, or you have PCOS, irregular or absent periods, want to quit hormonal birth control, lose weight, or get rid of your bloating, I’m here to help you!
